Hanna M.G. Barriga
Dr Hanna Barriga is a Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry, Imperial College London.
My current research focuses on understanding the structural and dynamical properties of self-assembled amphiphilic systems. This involves studying model membranes in bulk mesophases and also vesicular forms. I am particularly interested in studying the curvature and asymmetry within these systems and whether we can use this knowledge to design and manufacture systens with defined properties. This work is part of a large scale collaborative CAPITALS research programme.
I am also interested in membrane-protein interactions and how the lipid system can influence protein function. This research formed the main body of work for my PhD with the Membrane Biophysics group and I have continued to be involved with this alongside my other work.
