Zihe Rao, Former president of Nankai University, Professor of Molecular Biophysics, Tsinghua University and Nankai University.
Zihe Rao is a structural virologist, mainly engaged in the study of the three-dimensional structures of significant proteins and viruses related to human infection disease or with important physiological functions, as well as in innovative drug discovery. He has published more than 290 peer-reviewed papers to date in international scientific journals.
Zihe Rao was elected as a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003, a Member of the Third World Academy of Sciences in 2004 and a Fellow of Hertford College, Oxford, in 2011. He was elected the president of IUPAB from 2014-2017. From March 2003 to April 2007, he served as Director-general of the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Director of the National Laboratory of Biomacromolecules.
