Rajan Sankaranarayanan
Dr. Rajan Sankaranarayanan obtained his Ph. D. from the Molecular Biophysics Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1996 and was a postdoctoral research fellow at IGBMC, Strasbourg, France from 1996-2002. Dr. Sankaranarayanan established a Structural Biology group at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India. His group is working majorly in two areas, understanding mechanistic aspects of proofreading during translation of the genetic code and of mycobacterial enzymes involved in complex lipid synthesis. He was awarded the Wellcome Trust International Senior Research Fellowship, UK from 2003-2008. He is an Associate Editor of Journal of Structural Biology, an Elsevier journal, and Co-Editor of Acta Crystallographica, an IUCr publication. He is also an editorial board member of Current Opinion in Structural Biology.
