Diane M. Papazian

Diane Papazian is a Professor in the Department of Physiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She received her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, where she studied chemistry. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in biological chemistry from Harvard University. She was a postdoctoral fellow with Drs. Lily Jan and Yuh Nung Jan at UCSF prior to taking a faculty position at UCLA. Her research has focused on the mechanism of voltage-dependent activation in potassium channels and more recently on how changes in potassium channel gating contribute to human neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. She was elected a Fellow of the Biophysical Society in 2009.
