Saulius Klimasauskas

Prof. Saulius KlimaĊĦauskas is a Chief Scientist and Head of Department at the Institute of Biotechnology of Vilnius University and a full member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. His current research in the fields of nucleic acids biophysics, biomolecular engineering and epigenome analysis is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA), the Research Council of Lithuania and EU FP program. He received repeat HHMI International Research Scholar awards in 1995 and 2001, and was awarded National Science Price of Lithuania in 2001 and a City of Vilnius Award of Merit for Science in 2011. He was a JSPS Invited Professor at the Institute for Protein Research, Osaka University, Japan in 2002 and a visiting postdoctoral scientist in structural biology at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (NY, USA) with Sir Dr. Richard J. Roberts (NL, FRS) in 1989-1994. He received his Ph.D. in bioorganic chemistry in 1987 from the Institute of Applied Enzymology Fermentas (Lithuania).
